Finding a Top-notch Real Estate Agent (Part 2) - 2/14/2007
Interviewing a variety of agents helps find one that meets your needs.

Once you have found a list of agents you want to consider hiring to buy or sell your home, it’s important to interview at least three different agents. Ask the following questions:

How many years have you been in the business?
How long have you lived in the area?
What is your commission?
May I have a list of references?
How will you attempt to find me and my family the right house? Or how will you market the home I am selling?
What is your Internet presence?
What resources can you give me to help introduce me to the community/neighborhood?
When are you available to assist me? How will I contact you?

Remember to take along a notepad and paper to the interview, but leave your money at home. Avoid the pressure of signing the contract on the spot. Buying or selling your home is a major decision in life. Take a day to review any notes on the interviews, discuss your reactions to the agents with a friend or family member. When you make the decision, call the agent to schedule an appointment to review the contract.
